| Ring & Ball |
Conductometer, Five Rod |
Compound Bar |
Ring and Ball Apparatus
Demonstrates the expansion of metals. Consist of two brass rods with
insulated handles. One of the rods has a ring and the other has a brass
ball attached to the end. The brass ball will pass through the ring
when both rods are at room temperature, but when the ball is heated it
expands and cannot pass through the ring.
No. SF410-AA. Only $7.50
Conductometer, Five Rod
Demonstrates the different heat conductive of five metals by observing the
melting of wax. Consists of five 75 x 5m rods, one each of aluminum,
brass, iron, copper and stainless steel. They are radically fitted
on a 27mm brass disk. Each of the rods have a cavity at the outer
end for holding paraffin wax. The central disk is joined to an
insulated handle by a 125mm long plated steel rod.
No. SF410-AB. Only $8.95
Compound Bar
To demonstrate unequal expansion in different metals on heating.
Highlights the role of temperature and materials in practical application
such as in thermostats. Consist of a laminated strip of two
different metals fitted in a wooden handle. Due to differences in
the coefficients of linear expansion of both metals, the laminated strip
bends dramatically on heating.
No. SF410-AC. Only $4.50 |

| Standard Calorimeter |
Electric Calorimeter |
Specific Heat Specimens |
Standard Calorimeter
Used to determine specific heat, heat of fusion and heat of vaporization.
Consist of two polished spun aluminum vessels - an inner calorimeter (90
x54mm ) and an outer calorimeter (140 x 100mm). Includes a plastic
ring for seating the inner calorimeter, a stirrer and a plastic lid for
the outer vessel. The lid has two holes for the thermometer and the
stirrer. Thermometer listed separately.
No. SF410-CS. Only $13.95
Electric Calorimeter
Used to determine the mechanical equivalent of heat by measuring the heat
generated in an electrical resistance. Includes the calorimeter set
of described above. The plastic lid is fitted with a heating coil to
work with 6-Volt supply or a battery and two 4mm socket binding
posts for electrical connections, stirrer with an insulated handle and a
single hole rubber stopper for inserting a thermometer. Requires a
suitable voltmeter, ammeter and thermometer (not supplied)
No. SF410-CE. Only $18.75
Specific Heat Specimen
Cylinder Set
For showing that when different metals cylinders are heating to the same
temperature and immersed individually an equal quantity of water, the rise
in temperature of the water is directly proportional to the specific heat
of the chosen metal cylinder. Individual cylinders can also be used
for precise specific heat determination. Includes six cylinders -
aluminum, brass, copper, iron, lead and zinc. All have diameters of
13mm. The length of each cylinder is adjusted so that all have the
same mass (weight).
No. SF410-SC. Only $21.75 |

Melting Point Apparatus
Used to determine the melting point of solid substances.
Consists of an aluminum cylinder with a slanted hole on the top for
inserting a thermometer. The test substance is placed on the
top of the cylinder, which is then heated. When the substance begins
to melt, the thermometer is checked to determine the melting point.
Cylinder is 50mm x 63mm diameter. May be heated on a burner.
No. SF410-MP. Only $19.95 |
