Science Kits
The Science Kits in this section focus
on motion, but also address closely related subjects.
Activities and experiments in force, friction, pressure, work,
motion, gravity, momentum and power. These kits are especially
useful to kids in elementary and middle school. |
 |
Inertia, Acceleration
An object at rest tends to remain at
rest. But what happens once is gets moving. This section
contains apparatus to better terms: mass and weight, explore
acceleration, falling bodies, dependence of moment on inertia,
distribution of mass, lineal motion and more.. |
 |
Pendulums
An excellent unit to demonstrate the
laws of conservation of momentum and trajectory. Apparatus
includes plumb bomb, pendulum clamp, double hook ended pendulum bob
and our popular ballistic pendulum |
 |
Oscillation
In simplest terms, oscillation refers to
swinging back and forth, just like a pendulum, but there is more to
it than that. The apparatus in this section is used to explore
oscillation under repeated external forces, resonance and damped
oscillation. show the vibration of any object when repeated impulses
are applied, and the study of simple harmonic motion |
 |
Momentum
An object in motion tends to remain in
motion. Maxwell's Wheel is used to demonstrate the
conservation of the mechanical energy. The 2-D Collision Kit is
designed for the study of momentum and kinetic energy in elastic and
inelastic collisions. |
 |
Centrifugal Force
Well demonstrated by the popular
gyroscope. Use the The hand-driven rotator for experiments in
both horizontal and vertical positions. The Loop-the-Loop Apparatus
demonstrate s the transformation between kinetic and potential
energies |
 |
Gravity
Not a motion per se, but certainly a
major factor that influences it. The subject can extensively
explored through the free-fall apparatus and the famous Cavendish
Balance. |
 |
Force Tables
The student Force Table permits the
investigation of equilibrium on either three or four forces. The
Vertical Force Board is designed to demonstrate the conditions
for rotational equilibrium of a solid body - the sum of all the
torques acting on a an object must be zero. |
 |
Air Table
Our Projection Air Table is designed to
simulates the motions of particles such as Brownian motion, motion
of gas molecules, motion of liquid molecules, gas diffusion, the
isothermal process, the scattering of particles, and circular
motion. Not suitable for games of air hockey. |
 |
Equipment
Air pumps for use with air tables and
other physics experiments. Our Digital Timer with Photogates
is great for timing things, especially when precise measurements are
needed. |
 |
Fun Stuff
There are some delightful ways to
demonstrate the various physics principal that come into play
w hen exploring motion. This page includes a few that
withstood the test of time, such as the Newton's Swings, shown
at right.. |
